What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

PowerPoint saved as responsive doesn’t maintain aspect ratio during preview

I created a PowerPoint Captivate Project and saved it as responsive. When I do a project preview the slides do not maintain aspect ratio, even though they do when I use the layout preview while working on the project.

Any option/setting to get Semi-transperant Text Caption Box with our choice of color?

Is there any option/setting to get semi-transprant Text Caption Box. I can see some pre-difined choice only. My quick workaround is to take shape and trasperant  Text Caption box. But there could be some better way.

Twin Cities E-Learning Developer’s Group

The Twin Cities E-Learning Developer’s Group is a new group I started the group in January because I was looking for a space to meet other e-learning developers for hacking, experimenting, exchanging ideas and improving my skills through helping others solve problems. I wasn’t able to find a local group that provided these kinds of hands-on interactions, so, inspired by similar groups in other cities, I decided to create one. If you’re in or around the Twin Cities in Minnesota, I’d like to invite you to join us.

Captivate 2017 – Email Action Automatically Populate Subject Line

I am using an Action ‘Send Email to” on Exit so that the user can email a PDF of the certificate of completion to a safety officer in the company. Is it possible to program the Email so that a subject line is automatically populated? For instance, when the Email pops up, the subject line says “certificate of completion for safety program”. Right now the Email subject line and body text is completely blank so the User would have to […]

Black bars on video objects in knowledge check slides

When I add a video object onto knowledge check slides, black bars often occur on either top or sides of the object, when I preview it. See example on the picture below, here the black bars occur on top and bottom: I can manually adjust the object size and sometimes hit just the right dimensions, so the bars do not occur – but there must be an easier way to do this? “Maintain aspect ratio” is checked (and grayed out) […]
