What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

JavaScript Book Recommendation

Hi, Can someone recommend JavaScript, HTML and CSS books for beginners that would be a best fit for Adobe Captivate? I keep researching but do not find anything in particular. However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Next Button Available Immediately on Slide Revisits

In this video tutorial, I will show you how you can use advanced actions to program a click-to-reveal interaction. This tutorial will show you how you can disable the next button until the learner completes the click-to-reveal. Still, the real kicker is that Captivate will remember that the learner has completed the interaction on subsequent slide revisits and make the Next button available right away.

Captivate Quiz Setting – Review & Retake

Hi all, I have a QQ. I need to activate the ‘Review’ option for a quiz. The problem is if I review the quiz then I don’t get an option to ‘Retake’ the quiz. I have to close the quiz and restart. This is okay if it’s a stand-alone quiz. But if the quiz is a part of an eLearning course then it becomes difficult. Am I doing something wrong? TIA

Skill maps and skill gaps: Improved transparency for workforce talent

Without a systematic approach to tracking talent within workforces, enterprises risk wasting precious time and resources duplicating efforts and recruiting skills without taking advantage of the assets they already have on board. Skills are becoming outdated faster than ever as technology drives unprecedented change across industries. Having a clear idea of what talent already exists on a team and what skills are missing is essential to staying competitive and relevant in every industry marketplace. Fatal Error and Other Issues

I am using Adobe Captivate 2019.  A couple of days ago I was working on setting Recording Defaults.  After attempting to Create New Style, I got a Fatal Error.  After that I lost the ability to create a New Bank Project, and all of my preset Recording Defaults are gone.  Many times when I click on the Recording Defaults button or the Object Style Manager button it comes up with a blank screen (not blank defaults, but a totally blank […]

Captivate 9 slide image problem

I’m working on a project in Captivate 9 and I’m having problems with the image properly going into the finished slide. Rather than using the character assets provided in Captivate library I’ve decided to use my image duplicating the positions in the library and will use my voice over for the audio. The first slide below is the slide as I’m working on it.  I will have my image enter from the left and stop as if I’m pointing to […]

Captivate 0 Image blocked or covered upon entrance to slide

I recently had my laptop re-imaged and Captivate re-installed.  I’m working on a module that I have an image of myself that was “selected and masked” in Photoshop so I could be properly cropped out and used as a character.  When I preview the slide my image enters the slide and is completely covered in red.  What is causing the problem and how do I correct it? It worked fine prior to my software being re-installed.
