What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

How a skills ontology framework keeps enterprises ahead of the curve

Standard terms and qualifications used to be enough to classify workers. There was a basic understanding of the underlying skills a specific occupation would need for the job. Today, however, those skills are constantly evolving. Skills ontology is a categorization of skills that builds a common language of skills, defining the aspects of a specific job rather than relying on blanket terms and vague descriptions. Some good examples of skills ontology in action include a marketer who needs to be […]

Migrating Legacy Flash eLearning Content to HTML5

Implementing a process to migrate legacy Flash eLearning courses to HTML5 In December of 2020, Adobe will cease support for Adobe Flash – SWF format content. It is commonly regarded as the ‘end’ of Flash.  For many, however, there are a significant number of eLearning courses, job aids and performance support materials that were developed and delivered to learners using earlier versions of Adobe Captivate, which published to the Flash SWF format. It is important to evaluate the impact of […]

Learner Engagement in Workplace E-Learning

I read from Christy Tucker’s blog that there are certain guidelines instructional designers can follow to create engaging e-learning experience.  The following paragraph is very informative and useful to know: “Boredom was more likely to lead students to game the system. For workplace training, this would be clicking next quickly and randomly guessing multiple-choice questions until passing. Affective engagement also relates to “task-values,” or the value people perceive in completing a task. A task might be intrinsically enjoyable (intrinsic value), […]

Importing custom png for hotspots in 360 video

Hey there, I’m having some trouble importing custom .png hotspots in my 360 video project. I was able to import a .jpeg, however it didn’t have a transparent background. Looking at tutorials online, it seems possible to import .png files in Captivate, so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Could someone please provide some assistance on this matter? Thanks, Sahil
