What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Converting PowerPoint with animated smart art and other objects to HTML5 not working as expected.

Hi, I am just looking to see if captivate could help us. The first course of action is to simply convert existing PowerPoints (2016 – O365) into HTML5 for use within an LMS. However, at the first hurdle I seem to have fallen as smart art is not being converted as I would expect. I have also not that fade in on test is not working either.

Why are svg not allowed to be buttons

It has been many years since I worked with captivate 9 and when I did use it, svg files were not allowed to be buttons.  Now many years and many software generations later captivate 2019 still does not allow svg files for buttons.  Can anyone explain the reason for this delay.  Raster images don’t like resizing in progressive development, but vector (svg) has no problem. Thanks Richard

Negotiate Your Learning Management System (LMS) Contract

Congratulations, you’ve gone through the process of selecting the perfect learning management system vendor for your learning and development organization! All that stands between you and that beautiful piece of learning technology is the vendor contract, and the associated price tag. During one of my conference sessions this year, I was asked whether it’s possible to negotiate the price of an LMS. And the answer is – absolutely you can! Buying technology is somewhat similar to buying a car. It’s a big investment, and […]

Captivate 2019 ver 11.0.1.266 fluid box issues

Hello All, Getting flustrated with fluid boxes not displaying things correctly.  I resized the responsive project to larger than the default (really dumb default as that standard was ok about 10 years ago) and tried to size my fluid boxes the way I needed them. I had 7 vertical fluid boxes. 1. The Fluid box positioning tab has the width at the default “1024” and so does not match what the actual size is. 2. The Fluid box positioning tab […]

Can anyone help me how to have Content slides and Quiz slide in one single project on Captivate 2019

Can’t figure out how to have content and quiz/question slide to intermingle depending on the user’s answer. Also, I would love to learn how to branch out “yes and no” questions to different slides that might contain video or reading.

Height does not seem to be changeable when I use the preview slider

Hello all, New to responsive fluid boxes so please bear with me. I want to change both the height and width of the project so when I am presenting/watching the project in a browser it is sized correctly for the resolution of the monitor.  I only see the width change when I test it on the monitor and use the preview slider.  Am I missing something? Thanks Richard

High Contrast and 508 Accessiblity

I’m having a problem when my courses are tested for 508 Accessibility in that they are failing the “High Contrast” test.  This is apparently a function built into at least Windows that inverts the colors on the screen (i.e. this page, for example, the white would change to black and the black test would change to white). Does anyone know if there are settings within Captivate itself that are necessary to make this feature function properly? v/r Jay
