What are eLearning Devs and IDs reading?

Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from.  I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]

Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Multiple Failure messages for Drag&Drop KC slide

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action.  I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]

Fluid Boxes – Adobe is Listening!

I predict that if in 5 years time if you are not designing responsive elearning, you will not have a competitive edge. When you look at the improvements to fluid boxes in Captivate 2019 it is clear that Adobe is preparing for that eventuality.

Multi-state slides with next button active

I have several slides where I use the multi-state click/reveal functionality to show step by step screen flow. On the last page of the multi-state, there is no next button, it is on the main slide. Thus, when the learner gets to the last step, there is no way for them to move forward (I’ve disabled that in the skin progress bar). I’m working in Captivate 9. Any thoughts on how to add a next button within the state view? […]

Captivate 2019 – New Features for Experiential Learning

As you start to work with the new features in Adobe Captivate 2019, you start to see a theme with many of the features. For me, that theme is experiential learning. Of course, some of you would argue that you cannot have experiential eLearning. eLearning isn’t close enough to real life. While we may not be able to immerse learners entirely in reality, this version of Captivate takes a few big steps toward that direction.

HTML5 presentation interrupted with “Loading…” overlay; never recovers

I’ve uploaded an HTML5 presentation to my web server, but the playback is very unreliable.  Usually the first half will play correctly, but about halfway through, the audio stops playing and a gray “Loading…” overlay appears.  The project is then effectively dead in the water with futher audio problems even on a refresh. What causes the Loading overlay?  My audio files are under 1MB in size and there’s no reasonable lag in my network connection.
