Big Sur (macOS 11) update for Adobe Captivate (2019 release) is here!
Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from. I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]
Hi, Can someone recommend JavaScript, HTML and CSS books for beginners that would be a best fit for Adobe Captivate? I keep researching but do not find anything in particular. However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action. I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]
I want to open a Captivate 8/9 responsive project in Captivate (2017 release). What should I expect?
If you open a responsive project that you had created using Captivate 8 or 9 in Captivate (2017 release), you can see the following: Breakpoints from the previous version File > Save as Responsive option is disabled No option to add a Fluid Box To convert to auto-responsive project in Captivate (2017 release), create a new responsive project, and copy-paste the objects into the new responsive project. Also, apply the same theme to the new project. While copying and pasting slides, only […]
As I’ve been working with fluid boxes, I’ve noticed that the resizing options, those little blue items you see when you first place them, tend to go away as soon as you click anywhere else. Looking through the limited documentation, I couldn’t find a way to bring those little bluebells back. I just accidentally discovered how to do it! If you click anyplace offstage and then drag the mouse anywhere onto the stage, the piercing blue eyeballs […]
In this article I show you how to upload an e-learning module to your website. I’m using my recently completed module on discus throwing as an example. The process is not as complicated as it might seem: Once you have completed your project, you need to package up all the necessary files via the publishing process in your e-learning authoring tool. In Adobe Captivate go to Publish and select Publish for Devices. In the dialogue box Publish for Devices […]
Hello, all. From what I’ve read of the recent comments, many have already touched on the overviews of most of the new features and enhancements that the 2017 version offers. So, in this piece, I’d like to comment on the Fluid Boxes in particular. I attended the Adobe Learning Summit in late 2016, and these were part of the Sneaks portion of the summit. When I first saw them, they blew my mind (in part because of the hiking themed […]
Just got Captivate 2017 today. Had a project due tomorrow where I needed to load screens with one button active with content selected and the rest of the buttons clickable. I just loaded the screen with an ON ENTER show VISITED STATE of my preselected button! I just used that 40 times. So easy!!! Thanks Captivate 2017 for the VISITED STATE option.
This morning I ran a live stream on my YouTube channel and walked my viewers through some of the key features in Adobe Captivate 2017. I’ve saved the recording for all of you to watch and get some first-hand tutorials on how to use the new features in Adobe Captivate 2017. Check it out.
Captivate 2017 (and 9 really) provide great options for you to preview your responsive courses. But did you know your Reviewers can see the course at almost any size by using ReviewMyElearning.com?
I’ve been using Adobe Captivate for over a decade and what amazes me is that with each version, the tool (with the engineers help!) not only outperforms itself but incorporates features that we request, showing that the Adobe support team listens to us. Although Captivate is the pioneer in the field of responsive eLearning design, it has not been complacent with this achievement. Here’s why, the 2017 captivate release has made the experience of authoring responsive content easier, […]
If you’ve been on the eLearning forums after the launch of Captivate 2017, you’ve already seen that you can convert an existing ‘blank,’ or standard, Cp project to Responsive bu choosing ‘Save as Responsive‘ in the File menu. Now we’ll take a look at creating a customized preview mode for a Responsive project. Once you have a responsive project open, if you look in the upper left corner of the project window there is a ‘Preview in’ dropdown menu and […]
I’m really excited to report that the next major release of Adobe Captivate has launched. Adobe has made the decision to break from the product numbers of the past and now simply call the product Adobe Captivate 2017 Release. In this article, I cover off some of the new features for you to consider. Responsive Design The most notable addition to this software is a new way to develop responsively designed courses. A feature known as fluid boxes allows users […]
