Big Sur (macOS 11) update for Adobe Captivate (2019 release) is here!
Greetings all. I am always looking for resources and things to learn from. I have read some articles recommending books and unfortunately some that seem really interesting I haven’t been able to find, but I will continue to look. Thought I would pose the question here. What are some good resources that you recommend? They don’t have to specifically be direct to eLearning or Instructional Design, but they obviously can. But if there is something that relates and you feel […]
Hi, Can someone recommend JavaScript, HTML and CSS books for beginners that would be a best fit for Adobe Captivate? I keep researching but do not find anything in particular. However, if anyone can recommend any books that were of great help to you and Captivate, let me know! Currently, I have a few in my Amazon cart but just not sure which would be good. Plan on also heading to a Barnes and Nobles this weekend and see what’s […]

Intro This article is written as an answer to a question on the forums: Drag&Drop with Advanced Action For quiz slides it is possible to show different Failure messages based on the attempt number. That functionality is not available for Drag&Drop slides. As you can read in the thread, another user posted a solution using the Object actions which are executed after each drag action. I posted some comments about the limitations of that solution. In this article the described solution is […]
I know some of you have expense accounts and can travel on the company’s dime as it were. Unfortunately, some of us have to come up with our own dimes. I speak about a breed of learning and development professionals known as freelancers. We do need to sharpen our skills by attending training and conferences like the Adobe eLearning Conference happening next week in Washington DC, or the Adobe Learning Summit that happens in the fall in Las Vegas, NV. Unfortunately places like Washington and Las Vegas are not exactly inexpensive places for those of us who have to foot our own bills. Also, these money saving tips are not just for freelancers as well. You L&D manager might agree to send you to Washington or Las Vegas but only if you can demonstrate how you can keep it more affordable for the organization. Here are 6 of my ways to make these types of events more affordable.

Just completed my first Adobe Captivate two day beginner training. I must say that I am excited to dig my hands in. I am a trainer for a medical group, and I can already see how captivate will enhance productivity within my role. Throughout the training, the Captivate trainer did a great job at laying down the foundation as well as guided us through an introductory hands on project to help us put what we learned in to practice. I’m […]
I apologize if this has been asked before but one of our managers really wants to have us offer the ability to speed up our modules 1.5 to 2 times normal speed. When we have tried to do this using the speed button attached to the captivate navigation bar, the audio cuts out. Is there a way to do this either natively in Captivate or by creating a button using JavaScript where the audio does not cut out? Thanks for […]
Please confirm the quality of video playback on Prime using Captivate (video edited in Premier Pro)
I recently saw an article on LinkedIn by a fellow instructional designer Ralonda Simmons. She posed the question to the community about whether we should work for free when we start in the learning and design industry. I guess I’m not surprised that organisations are doing this, but I’ve also had time to reflect on this discussion, and I thought I would share my thoughts here as well. When I was starting as a freelance elearning designer, developer, I would […]
TTS and CC synchronization sometimes is a nightmare.

I created this guided VR sample to test out the capabilities of Adobe Captivates 360-degree slides. It’s a blank project containing a video I downloaded online. (2019, February 28. TheTrauger:Control Room Switcher)
I tried linking the 360-degree portion of the project by uploading it under the actions tab>on success option but it wouldn’t play. As a workaround I linked it to an external URL (Amazon S3) and that seemed to do the trick.
However, upon trying to upload it into the Adobe Community I received an error messages. This concerns me because If in the future I try to duplicate this interaction for a real project it will not be accepted by the LMS.
Upon publishing I received a pop-up message with detailed instructions/advice however, I have no idea what they are talking about:
The files/projects listed below are linked to the open project. The linked files/projects may require exporting.
C:/Users/CheRae/Documents/MyAdobeCaptivateProjects/Control Room Training Sample 2.1/index.html (slide2)
This project contains links to external files or projects. After publishing, ensure that you copy all referenced files to the output folder and all referenced projects with their corresponding HRML files to the callees folder in the output folder.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to accomplish this?
What and where is the callees folder? Where is the output folder? I’m little out of my depth here.
Thanks!
I am working on a new software simulation. I have done over twenty of these in an older version of Captivate with no issues. Just received a new computer with the updated version of captivate and for some reason the simulation only shows the first and last slide i do with nothing in the middle. Tried a number of times and no luck. Is there something that changed in the newest version? I have two monitors and set the simulation […]
